About the Author

  • Please allow me to cut to the chase, and begin with my Artist’s statement.

My art is painted in reverse on glass.  This not to say that I paint backwards, but that it is viewed from the opposite side of the glass.  So, if I see, and paint my subject facing left, the final painting will show it to be facing right.  I began reverse glass painting because it was fun and a challenge.  I continued because I like the results.

The theme of my painting is based on nature, mankind and Christianity: how they relate to one another and to each other.

Many of my paintings are spiritual.  They reflect my own feelings better than I am able to with words.  In essence, my creations are done for my creator.

The person I am now, as is everyone’s’,  has been shaped by my past experiences.  My much earlier years can be found in my Bio page if someone feels the need.  But getting back to the person I am now;  so many things.  I am a mother of four, and grand mother  three.  I’m so very excited about that!  Sometimes I still seek out adventures, in that department when I don’t win, I always learn.  Not wanting to create a mystery, my last adventure was shopping for a newer house, something a little easier to grow older in.  Because of structural issues, my husband and I were not able to get our house financed.  The structural issues are now being cleared up, and we have put an addition on the house.

What I learned from this adventure, ( and it really was ), is that I really don’t want to give up the house we’ve worked so very hard on for over 35 years.  I also learned what this place meant to my oldest grand son, Jacob.  If the truth be known, when I was packing boxes, and thought about leaving, I already missed the woodstoves and outlet covers that we installed over the years.

With the new addition, which is the master bedroom we gained not only the big bay window, but the view that inspired me to buy this house in the first place, of a deep ravine that runs along the east side of the house.

Another part of the person I have become is that I love natural beauty.  For me a visit to Letchworth Park is as good as it gets!  I have lived in Texas, visited Hawaii, and the Bahaman Islands, and seen a lot of the United States, but my home in Central New York is where I want to be.  Wild as well as domestic animals are another irresistible source of natural beauty for me.  I display my art work in reverse painting on glass at local art shows, usually for two days at a time.  Still working a full time job on the afternoon shift, I paint every night after work for an hour or two.  I don’t know how that’s going to work when retirement comes, because that limitation of the hour or two gives me the incentive to concentrate and be productive.

    Bio

I usually save my vacation time for October, so I can celebrate our honeymoon with my husband.  We don’t call it an anniversary because the honeymoon was too much fun, so we have one every year.  I have also taken time off in the winter, because we both love to cross country ski.  I really can’t even grasp the idea that there are better places for it than the foot hills of the Adirondack Mountains, and the country trails in central New York.
