Owl paintings that are done in reverse painting on glass are as much fun to paint as any other wild animal.
This painting is quite large, and as you can see, in an actual window sash.
This is a much smaller piece of a short eared owl. Central New York is the natural home to so many species of owls!
You don’t see me having a problem with that! Instead, I work with it. The rodent population stays in balance, and it gives the amateur photographers so much to work with.
The first time I had ever seen a Snowy Owl was about ten or eleven years ago. My husband and I were leaving our house to go out. About one half mile away, I noticed a very large almost white bird, perched on a tree top. I couldn’t quite believe it, and when I got home, had to look it up to make sure there was such a thing. Two winters ago there was a migration of snowy owls in central New York. The amateur photographers in the area went wild, as did a lot of locals. There was no going on Face Book without seeing to photos daily! I was as excited as everyone else to view these rare beauties in the feather.
It was a rare occasion indeed!
