Sports Paintings in reverse painting on glass are something that I just recently got into. “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” Henry David Thoreau,
A painting of my grand-niece, Rebecca.
Rebecca had been posting pictures from her games on Face Book, and some of them were positively inspiring! In the picture of the reverse painting on glass above, I saw so much drama going on that it was palpable for me. There is the girl in the black uniform, obviously bigger, stronger, and with more experience than the girl in blue and gold, the girl who I thought was Rebecca. But the smaller girl is still moving toward her goal. She is still going to give her effort! When this painting was finished, I could not wait for my niece to see one of my first sports paintings
When she did see it, her reply was “Oh, a painting of Abbie!”, her friend. I guess there comes a time in life when most teens start to look alike to those of us who are older. But I was very happy that it did indeed look like Abbie.
I continued, and when the second painting was finished, and once again, couldn’t wait for Rebecca to see it, I went to frame it, and it cracked. In four places. I was beside myself. It had taken weeks to paint a sports paintings in such a slow process as reverse painting on glass does. Becky’s grand mother, (my sister) said not to throw it out. She wanted it even though it was broken. I had given up on it, but Alice still wanted it. I decided to do the same painting again. I later heard that Rebecca almost cried when she saw it. We can’t have that, so I will work very hard for the second time on this painting.
This painting had a new owner before it was dry.
